Challenge:
To renovate a 1930s four-story warehouse structure into a
contemporary housing community.
Vision:
To utilize cutting-edge architects, engineers and local artisans
to create a striking rehabilitation of the industrial building
in order to appeal to diverse uses and residents.
Results:
The Emeryville Warehouse Lofts is the signature urban loft
development in the rapidly-changing inner East Bay. It anchors
what has become one of the Bay Area's hottest development
locations, representing a compelling combination of visionary
design and attention to detail. Units in the development range
in price from $180,000 to over $1,000,000. The partnership
structured a tax-advantaged sale for the long-time owner of
the original warehouse. The 140 units were sold out within
six months. The Emeryville Warehouse Lofts won a 2000 ULI
Gold Nugget Award and a 2001 Builder's Choice Grand Prize.
