Challenge:
To develop a mixed-use project in the Emeryville bayfront,
historically a heavy industrial area at the eastern terminus
of the San Francisco Bay Bridge.
Vision:
To create a mix of residential, retail, office and entertainment
uses with suburban amenities at the urban edge. An urban village
where people could live, work and play.
Results:
EmeryBay is a $400 million development adjacent to Highway
80 and the Emeryville waterfront, with more than 800,000 square
feet of space and 800 housing units. Features include the
Powell Street Plaza Shopping Center, a 10-Screen United Artists
multiplex cinema, the Public Market, as well as the EmeryBay
Club & Apartments and the Bay Center Offices. We worked
closely with City officials to structure a unique set of public-private
partnerships to clean up the site, finance infrastructure
and secure designs for one of the largest mixed-use redevelopment
projects in the Bay Area.
